A Monster Story

Debut poetry collection by Crys Wiltshire

A debut confessional poetry collection on childhood trauma and survival, structured as a dark fairy tale arc. For anyone who grew up in a house where the danger had a perfectly normal face, offering truth, fury, and the company of a fellow slayer.

Why are there no fairytales about evil stepfathers?

Launching August 21st, 2026

About Author

Welcome! I’m a Canadian poet, writer, marketing director, marketing professor, mother, avid reader, part-time university student, chronic overthinker, and someone who is trying very hard to give my writer’s soul enough attention before it packs a bag and leaves my body entirely.

My work has appeared in Blank Spaces magazine, the 2025 Canada Is Our Poem anthology, and the forthcoming anthology, The Museum of Human Hearts. My first full-length poetry collection, A Monster Story, is coming soon. I also write A Mind of One’s Own on Substack, where I think far too deeply about literature, women’s lives, and what it means to finally take your own creative work seriously.

I live near Georgian Bay with my husband, our two children, one dog, four cats (yes, 4!), and a bearded dragon, who was supposed to be for my kids, but remains firmly Mom’s pet.
